PhD student Brett Bernstein has been named as the recipient of this year’s T.K. Young Geophysics’ Leadership Award. The award recognizes excellence and leadership through service and collaboration. Brett has been a leader in the department through stepping into teaching GPGN 318 in the Fall semester, where he dedicated his weekends to providing the right guidance and demonstrations of geophysical equipment like the CG5-gravimeter, magnetometers, resistivity meters, etc. and in leading SGGS as President this academic year. He has provided service to the department through coordinating weekly social hours, other events for graduate students and the student recommendation process for the Heiland Lecture Series. Another function of his role in SGGS is to represent graduate students on the Graduate Advisory Committee (GAC) by attending meetings and being involved in decision making.

Congratulations, Brett!
