I am interested in shear-wave splitting and anisotropy as a proxy to map deformation and flow in the Earth’s mantle. I use 3D seismic wave simulations to forward and inverse model the anisotropy of the upper mantle and the D” layer (250 kilometers above the core mantle boundary). My goals are to understand the sources and geometries of this anisotropy in order to perceive deformation, mineralogy, and rheology of the Earth’s deep mantle.
